Graduation/Memorial Day

The school year is coming to an end and our children are being dismissed for their summer break. I would like to advise everyone to please be safe.

To the senior class of 2018: Whether you are preparing to further your education, start a career or still in the decision making process always remember to Be Bold, Be Brave, and Be Courageous. No matter what your choices are in life we at the Monroe County Sheriff Department wants to extended our congratulations. Good luck and be safe.

Summer weather usually means extremely warm temperatures. Here are a few tips to help beat the heat:

  -  Take frequent water breaks

  -   Apply sunscreen with an SPF of a least 15

  -   Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle

  -   Seek medical attention immediately for any signs of heat-related illness

We would like to remind everyone traveling to always wear your seat belt. The wearing of seat belts is the most effective way to  protect people and reduce fatalities in motor vehicle accidents. Do not drink and drive- and always have a designated driver.

While traveling the roadways, fishing, camping or whatever activity you are enjoying remember to practice safety at all times.

The Monroe County Sheriff Department hopes everyone has a great summer!

Congratulations again to our graduates!

Sheriff, Michael K. Neal
