The Monroe County Sheriff's Department received a vote of thanks from a local citizen. 

Sheriff Neal,

On last evening I was stopped by a Deputy Thorne around midnight after he observed me sitting on a dirt road for an extender time. I was returning home from our family farm from scouting a new frog hunting location and was taking a photo of a large cottonmouth. He activated his lights and approached my vehicle cautiously and professionally he explained the reason for the stop thoroughly, maintaining his caution and professionalism throughout our interaction. I was sent on my way home with a handshake and promise to keep an eye on my property while In my absence,, in this day and time it was a pleasant surprise to be treated with respect and courtesy. I drive an older vehicle and was dirty after a long day , however he treated my girlfriend as if we were family. Please relay my thanks and debt of gratitude to Deputy Thorne. He embodies the spirit and respect the badge and department should I feel. He is an asset not only to the department but the community he proudly serves . Thank you
