Negative impact to Public Safety a Jail closure would have!!!

If the Quorum Court decides to close the County Jail,  Monroe County citizens and citizens in the City of Clarendon will be left unprotected each time a Deputy or City Officer has to transport an arrestee to one of the neighboring County Jails.

Both the Sheriff's Deputies and Clarendon Police Department have  single officer on duty at one time.  Instead of dropping off an arrestee here at the Jail and going back out on patrol, a transport will be required, removing that officer from his/her patrol duties until he/she returns.

This will leave the community completely unprotected for the duration of the transport.

It is important everyone attend the Quorum Court meeting tonight to make your voice heard.  The closure of the County Jail is short-sighted and ill-advised, and the Justices of the Peace YOU ELECTED need to understand you are against this Resolution
