The Monroe County Sheriff's Office would like to express to our citizens the issue of kidnapping"s" and Human Trafficking.
On the date of 4-19-2022 3 teenage girls ages range 16-17 years old were either reported missing or kidnapped. As many of you have already seen this on Facebook or got the Amber alert"s". We would like to make sure our citizens are aware of this situation and remind everyone of the fake messages going around as possibly part of a Human Trafficking situation.
Please remember to take safety seriously and to tell your children of the dangers. If you are ever in a situation you do not feel comfortable or are in fear please do not hesitate contact your local law enforcement agency or as always dial 911. If you think someone might be following you remember to never go to your residence. Call it in and if possible drive to your nearest Police Department or Sheriff's Office. If you are unable to get to one of those drive to a public place such as a shopping center or even a hospital. You want to be able to be seen or heard if anything is to happen before you can get someone there to help you. Another safety tip is do not respond to unknown text messages, emails, or phone calls. And never give out your personal information to anyone unless you know who they are.
As always remember to check in on your family and friends as much as possible. Thank you, and we hope you all have a safe week.
