Halloween Safety Tips

Halloween Safety

The Halloween Holiday is coming up soon! We want to remind you to make safety a priority this Halloween when carving pumpkins, decoration, dressing up in costumes, and trick-or-treating.

Following is a list of safety tips to allow children to remain safe while experiencing the fun and excitement that comes with Halloween.

1. Leave pumpkin carving to the adults. Child helpers can grab a spoon and scoop out the inside or use a marker to trace the design.

2. Battery-operated lights or glow sticks are recommended for decorations and re the safest option.

3. Use a ladder when hanging or removing decorations, and only use lights that have been tested for safety.

4. Wear a costume that fits and avoid overly long or baggy costumes to prevent trips and falls.

5. Know when to wear protective mask and what prevention steps to take for COVID-19.

Halloween can be safe and enjoyable evening for all with a little preparation, communication, and diligence.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office will be on patrol and available to you and your children should you need us. As always, please dial 911 in the case of an emergency.
